Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I’m sending you a separate call for papers for the symposium (On Raimon Panikkar’s Intercultural Philosophy) that will be held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion, this November in San Antonio. Please note that this is over and above the two SACP panels that are our normal offerings at the AAR.

SACP Mini-Symposium on
Raimon Panikkar’s Intercultural Thought
San Antonio, November 18, 2016
In addition to the two regular SACP panels, the SACP will host a mini-symposium on the intercultural thought of Raimon Panikkar at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion in San Antonio. This symposium is made possible by the private financial support. It will take place on November 18 (Friday), the day before the official beginning of the AAR annual meeting in order to avoid any scheduling conflict.
Raimon Panikkar’s thought covers a wide range of fields, from theology to philosophy, culminating in the praxis of dialogical dialogue aiming at facilitating our interreligious and intercultural communication and understanding. The purpose of the symposium is for scholars engaged in Panikkar’s thought to probe the possibilities of further developing Panikkar’s insight in our intercultural studies. The themes of this year’s symposium are:
- Philosophical critique and development of Panikkar’s interreligious intercultural philosophy
- Celebrating Panikkar’s Life and Thought in conjunction with the publication of Ramon Panikkar; A Companion to his Life and Thought, ed., P. Phan & Y. Ro, (Cambridge: James Clarke, 2017).
Please submit your proposal of 200-300 words, to Dr. Michiko Yusa, at michiko.yusa@gmail.com. The deadline for the submission is May 18, 2016 (Wednesday).
