Call for Nominations: SACP Vice-President for 2027 – 2028

Dear Members of the SACP, On behalf of the SACP Board of Directors, I email you to solicit nominations for SACP Vice-President for 2027 (beginning January 1) – 2028 (December 31). On January 1 2029, the VP will automatically transition to the role of SACP President until December 31 2030. In other words, this involves a 4-year commitment. At the end of this email is provided a description of the Vice-President and President roles. We have already received some nominations at our annual conference Business Meeting (a few weeks ago in south India). Since not all members were present, we are opening this call for nominations to all SACP members. Kindly reply with your nominations by June 22nd, at which point we will proceed with next steps. All the best, Geoff   SACP Bylaws ARTICLE IX: Section 2. THE PRESIDENT. The President shall preside at all meetings of members. The President shall be a member of the Board of Directors and shall preside at all meetings of the Board, shall have general supervision of the affairs and business of the corporation, and shall make reports to the Board of Directors and members. The President shall perform all such other duties as are incident to the office or are properly required by the Board of Directors, including the following: send out the annual conference Call for Papers and Graduate Student Awards at least six months prior to conference event (with submissions due approximately two months later), and send out acceptance of conference submissions and awards; arrange the annual conference program (organizing panels, etc.) and other conference logistics (hotels, meals, etc.); correspond with program chairs serving as liaisons to other academic organizations; and serve as the representative voice of the corporation when necessary. Section 3. THE VICE-PRESIDENT. The Vice-President shall work closely with the President and shall take on tasks and responsibilities as requested by the President. The Vice-President will be a member of the Board of Directors. In the extended absence or incapacity of the President, the Vice-President is expected to take on the responsibilities of the President. Additional duties of the Vice-President include the following: conduct the on-line voting process for the election of officers; supervise the SACP website (e.g., ensure that the SACP board members, program directors, and regional directors have access to the website and ability to send out SACP emails) unless another board member has volunteered to take up this responsibility.

Reminder: SACP 2026 Conference Fees and Membership Dues

Dear Collegues,    I am writing on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy (SACP). Now that our 2026 annual conference has concluded, I would like to thank everyone who participated in-person at Manipal or online. You all helped make the event a great success.   As you know, the activities of the SACP depend upon the financial support of its members. If you attended the 2026 conference but have not yet paid your conference registration fee and/or annual membership dues, I kindly ask that you do so at your earliest convenience.   The fees for 2026 are as follows: <ul> <li>Conference registration (fully employed faculty): $200 (late fee)</li> <li>Conference registration (students, emeritus, or under-employed): $45</li> <li>Annual membership dues (fully employed faculty): $50</li> <li>Annual membership dues (students, emeritus, or under-employed): $30</li> </ul> Those who previously received confirmation from the SACP that their late fee would be waived may pay the original conference registration fee of $150.   Payments may be submitted through PayPal (the preferred method, as it reduces administrative time and paperwork). For Indian nationals and others who cannot use PayPal, please submit your payments through Wise. Seeking SACP 2027 and 2028 Conference Hosts

Dear Members of the SACP, I email you on behalf of the SACP Board of Directors. We solicit proposals for hosts for both our 2027 and 2028 annual conferences. Though we are open to proposals of all kinds, we especially invite proposals from these regions: the Americas for 2027 (i.e., North, Central, and South America), and Europe for 2027. Here are some important bits of information to consider before volunteering to host an annual SACP conference: <ul> <li aria-level="1" style="list-style-type:disc">The conference should take place over the span of 3-4 consecutive days, and ideally between late-May and mid-August</li> <li aria-level="1" style="list-style-type:disc">Expenses for the annual SACP conference can range from $12,000 to $25,000 USD.
