Dear Members of the SACP,
The following is for informational purposes only for those of our members who may be interested. In its over 120-year history, the Eastern Division of the American Philosophical Association (APA) has never had a President who specializes in Asian philosophy. The Eastern Division of the APA is holding its annual election for officers. One of the nominees for Vice President/President Elect is a past president of the SACP, who specializes in Chinese philosophy.
We encourage SACP members who are eligible to vote in the Eastern Division elections to read all the candidates’ statements here: https://www.apaonline.
This is not an endorsement of any candidate but may be of interest to members supporting diversification in philosophy.

The Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy was established in 1967 as a non-profit organization aimed at advancing the development of the disciplines of Asian and comparative philosophy in the international academic arena, and bringing together Asian and Western philosophers, as well as other scholars interested in Asian and world philosophy, for a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas. The Society seeks to provide the professional outlet for philosophers doing work in non-Western and comparative areas of philosophy. The group serves as the largest and most well-known professional organization for scholars in the fields of Asian and global philosophy.
