Subject: SACP Listserv SACP Business (nominations welcome)
Date: September 18th 2024

Dear Members of the SACP,

I email you on behalf of the SACP Board of Directors with some updates from our annual 2024 conference in Prague—and along with it, our General Assembly Meeting. As you may remember, we use the General Assembly Meeting to get things in order for our future events and transitions in leadership roles.

Please read my message below and consider nominating the following:

-1. persons who could serve in SACP roles of Vice-President, Treasurer, and general Board Member
-2. conference themes and keynote speaker(s) for our annual 2025 event, which will take place in Leiden in May or June of next year
-3. location for hosting the annual SACP conference in 2026 (preferably in Asia at a location that can accommodate our needs)

If possible, please let me know as soon as possible; we may still be able to receive nominations after this coming Tuesday, especially concerning the third item. But if possible, please try to respond by as soon as you can. Voting on these issues will take place online in the near future after the Prague conference.

My best wishes,

Geoff

SACP Vice-President for 2024
SACP President for 2025-2026

Nominations for SACP Board Member Positions

On January 1 2025 and lasting until December 31 2026 (two years), a new group of SACP Board members will be born. Please consider nominating either yourself or someone you think would fulfill one of these roles well. The following roles will come open:

· Vice-President (note that the Vice-President for 2025-2026 will automatically step into the President role for 2027-2028)
· Treasurer (2025-2026)
· General Board Member (2025-2026)

FYI, the following persons will be taking on these roles for the 2025-2026 SACP Board:

President: Geoff Ashton
Secretary: Jeremy Henkel

At least some if not most of the current Board Members will remain in their current roles: Jea Sophia Oh, Marzenna Jakubczak, Peter Hershock, and Chiara Robbiano.

For consideration, please let me know via email by end of the day, Monday September 16th, or in person prior to the General Assembly Meeting Tuesday Sept 17 3:45-5:15 pm, or nominate someone in person at the assembly meeting itself. Do note: we will not vote on these nominations at the General Assembly Meeting (this will happen via email soon after the conference, and will involve the wider SACP membership). We will only use this as the time by which to submit nominations.

Nominations for Conference Theme & Keynote Speaker(s) for SACP 2025 Conference in Leiden, Netherlands (June 2025)

Our 2025 annual conference will take place at Leiden University (Netherlands), either in late May or June (most likely). As with the above item, please let me know your suggestions for a conference theme and/or keynote speaker(s). We will discuss this in more detail at the General Assembly Meeting, and then hold an online vote soon after the Prague conference ends. The online vote will involve the wider SACP membership.

Nominations for the Annual SACP Conference in 2026

As has been our practice in recent years, the SACP is especially interested to hold its annual in-person conference at locations where basic needs and expenses can be covered (including free conference space, assistance running the conference, and especially welcome are hosts who can pay for basic things such as coffee, printing the conference programs, and so on). Due to our growing membership across different continents and geographic regions, we are hoping to run the annual 2026 SACP conference in Asia. If you or someone you know would be interested to take the lead in hosting this event (such as at a university in Asia), then please let us know. We will not vote on this issue at the September 17th General Assembly Meeting. But this may be a good time and place for you all to share these suggestions so that discussions can begin (concerns, enthusiasms can be raised). We would like to initiate the early stages of planning sooner than later. You can either email me your nominations for this, tell me in person, or share this at the meeting.
