2019 AAR Annual Meeting, San Diego
November 22-35, 2019
The Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy invites you to submit your paper proposal for the AAR annual meeting 2019.
The SACP will host at least one panel at this year's AAR meeting. The panel will be scheduled on Saturday (11/23) in the morning, before the start of the official AAR program. We are also contemplating on offering another panel, in memory of Gerry Larson who has recently passed. This will be held most likely on Friday (11/22).
Please note that for the proposed panel for Gerry to honor his life and work, paper proposals on the topic of intercultural philosophy and comparative studies of religion related to Gerry's work are most welcome, especially essays accessible to a general or "non-specialist" audience.

SACP Raimon Panikkar Symposium on Climate Change
AAR San Diego, November 22, 2019
At the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion in San Diego, the SACP will host a mini-symposium on Raimon Panikkar and his intercultural-intrareligious thought, in addition to the regular SACP panel(s). This symposium is made possible by private donations. It will take place on November 22 (Friday), the day before the beginning of the official AAR program in order to avoid any scheduling conflict.
Last year in Denver, we celebrated Raimon Panikkar's centenary, and dedicated a book, a collection of essays, entitled Raimon Panikkar: A Companion (Cambridge: James Clark, 2018), ed., Peter Phan & Young-chan Ro.
This year, we will focus on Panikkar's theo-anthropo-cosmic vision and the pressing issue of climate change. Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist, Confucian-Daoist, and secular perspectives on the climate change will be examined with the idea of coming up with a SACP resolution that may have practical bearings upon our professional responsibility.
Please submit your proposal of 200-300 words to Dr. Michiko Yusa at michiko.yusa@PROTECTED. The deadline for the submission is May 31, 2019.
This mailing list is announce-only.
The Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy was established in 1967 as a non-profit organization aimed at advancing the development of the disciplines of Asian and comparative philosophy in the international academic arena, and bringing together Asian and Western philosophers, as well as other scholars interested in Asian and world philosophy, for a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas. The Society seeks to provide the professional outlet for philosophers doing work in non-Western and comparative areas of philosophy. The group serves as the largest and most well-known professional organization for scholars in the fields of Asian and global philosophy.
