At the bottom of this email is a link that you can use to vote for SACP officers, board members, and the topic of the 2025 Annual Meeting. Elections will remain open until Friday, October 25. Please read on for more details.

We are asking you to vote on four things.

1. Vice President. At the end of this year, Sarah Hall-Flavel’s term as SACP President will conclude at the end of this year, and our current Vice President Geoff Ashton will begin serving his two-year term as President. Two people have accepted nominations to serve as the next SACP Vice President. The winner of the election will serve a two-year term succeed Geoff as the next SACP President. The two nominees are:

  • Jea Sophia Oh, West Chester University of Pennsylvania
  • Kevin Taylor, University of Memphis

Each candidate has submitted a statement of interest and a CV, which you can find attached to this email.

2. Treasurer. One candidate has accepted the nomination for Treasurer: Michael Dufresne, University of Hawaii. Because we have only one candidate, you will have the opportunity to assent or not assent to this appointment.

3. Board of Directors. We will be electing at least two new members to our Board of Directors, to replace Peter Hershock and Marzenna Jacubczak who are stepping down. In addition, Jea Sophia Oh, who is standing for election to Vice President, is also a current board member. If she wins the VP election, she will resign her position as a board member and we will replace her as well.

To handle the board election, we will engage in rank voting. This means you’ll be asked to rank the nominees, with #1 being your first choice. The five nominees to serve on the SACP Board are:

  • Aaron Creller, University of North Florida
  • Michiel Leezenberg, University of Amsterdam
  • Agnieszka Rostalska, Ghent University
  • Sor-hoon Tan, Singapore Management University
  • Jan Vihan, Czech Academy of Sciences

4. Conference Theme. Three potential themes have been identified for the 2025 annual meeting. You’ll be asked to rank them according to your preference:

  • From Human to Humane: Nature, Nurture, and Narrative
  • Navigating Human-Technology Relationships in a Connected Future
  • Resilience, Creativity, and Transformative Diversity

Finally, we’ll also ask you if you have any suggestions for keynote speakers for the 2025 conference.

Thank you for reading to the end. Here is the link to your SACP Ballot.

Thank you for your participation in the SACP. The society exists because of the active engagement of members like you.

Kind regards,
The SACP Board
